MEET THE PRESS
The free and rescpectful exchange of ideas and opinions across borders is now more valuable than ever.
Claudia Hamboch and Jens Wiegmann, who reported as journalists for the German Press Agency (dpa) and "Die Welt" from the USA, founded the Cotton Club in 2003, when German-American relations stagnated. Since then, the Cotton Club has been bringing together American personalities with journalists to discuss transatlantic issues.
On March 1st, an exclusive round of leading editors of German media met with guest speaker William Drozdiak. He was 10 years in New York president of the American Council on Germany (ACG), one of the oldest and most prestigious non-profit organizations dedicated to cooperation and understanding between the USA, Europe and Germany. Today, Drozdiak is a senior scientist at the prestigious think tank Brookings Institute in Washington, DC. He is closely linked to the German policy right up to the chancellor´s office.
The lively discussion took place in the DZ BANK executive room with a view to the Brandenburg Gate. The thought exchange was followed by an informal get-together.
