Night of the Champs
The location covered in red light, 270 festively dressed guests and the unmistakable sound of Queen with "We are the Champions": These were the ingredients for the 10th edition of the "Location Award". This year, FIYLO CEO and initiator of the Location Award, Frank Lienert, planned no awards ceremony in an ordinary manner - this time all the winners of the past 10 years were celebrated with a "Night of the Champs".
Right from the start and honoured as the best Design Location in 2010, AXICA offered the perfect setting on 5th December 2019 for this special occasion. The 'who is who' of the event industry walked on the red carpet at the Brandenburg Gate: from locations to hotels, caterers, event outfitters and technology service providers to agencies and corporate planners. Also guests from Switzerland, Austria, Denmark and Italy were present this time.
AXICA managing director Marc Mundstock highlighted the importance of this reunion in his welcome address. "It is the event industry that creates the conditions for people to meet, to encourage dialogue and exchange, and the industry can rightly be proud of this position in society, however the responsibility that goes hand in hand with it has to be increasingly acknowledged," he emphasized.
In addition to illustrious industry talks, moderated by Aljoscha Höhn, there was a keynote, which silenced everyone in the hall and listen attentively: Track bike Olympic champion and World Champion Kristina Vogel touched the guests with her story about victory and injury. Her statement on the question of the moderator, if she would like to turn back the clock: "I am not at odds with my fate, I try everything to see the positive, it also means: When a door closes, another one opens". The guests in the hall honored Kristina Vogel with standing ovations.
The AXICA kitchen team around the chefs André Steuer and Wolfgang Keller offered a four-course menu after the amuse bouche: a starter with a variation of Kremmener buffalo mozzarella with pickled vegetables, as an accompaniment there was salmon fillet from Norway with honey-caper-Fond and cauliflower. The main course impressed the trade visitors with smoked brisket from Hohenlohe quality beef and braised cheeks from the Irish pasture ox with beet, apple and sea buckthorn. Of course, there was also a vegetarian alternative. For dessert, the AXICA patisserie received reinforcement from Daniel Budde of Candide Schokolade Berlin and delighted the guests with a fine chocolate mousse with two kinds of passion fruit.
The evening ended with good conversations along with good drinks among colleagues.
